The main responsibility of the role is to assist in managing the day-to-day relationship with a Strategic Retail Customer. The role would include a mix of responsibilities ranging from marketing and sales support, project management, customer operations, and general administrative tasks serving the customer. The ideal candidate has a customer focused mindset and a willingness to problem solve, with the demonstrated ability to take initiative and is analytical and extremely detail-oriented.   Demonstrated, strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are a must. Two to three years of related experience is preferred with a consumer product goods company, grocery retailer, or market research group.

Your main responsibilities
  • Marketing and Sales Support:

  • Assist in new product commercialization process that requires cross functional collaboration between internal International colleagues, external vendors, and the Strategic Retail Customer

  • Act as the go-to resource for all trends related to the Strategic Retail Customer, developing perspective on both candy and a total store trends

  • Maintain working knowledge of Customer confection set and provide internal and external updates on an ongoing basis – product offerings, pricing, etc. 

  • Assist in developing external sales material and presentations

  • Initiate and perform business analyses, identify issues and opportunities and make recommendations to Marketing Manager/Vice President

  • Evaluate competitive landscape including competitive/category analysis and competitive launch review

  • Partner with Market Research/Insights on research projects to support marketing objectives and brand strategies

  • Lead real-time Customer store audit/research projects

  • Project Management:

  • Manage key timelines within product commercialization process ensuring project timelines stay on track and meet necessary deadlines

  • Assist in reviewing consumer packaging from a compliance and marketing perspective

  • Customer Operations:

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and support the needs of distribution centers for the Strategic Retail Customer

  • Oversee the distribution of product and identify and recommend resolution of distribution and supply issues in partnership with Supply Chain/Customer Operations team

  • Compile and analyze product trends and data to identify and execute actions needed for effective inventory management in partnership with Supply Chain/Customer Operations team

  • Determine and execute necessary actions for replenishment of product that impact sales and inventory in partnership with Supply Chain/Customer Operations team

  • Analyze and manage the distribution of seasonal, test, and end of life core products to maximize sales and profitability and minimize excess inventory

  • Identify areas for process improvement and make recommendations to Customer Relationship Manager for implementation

  • General Administrative/Other Duties:

  • Create, update, manage and maintain internal files, including price lists/tools, weekly advertisements, and business performance tools/files

  • Manage documentation during annual contract process, new product launches, and other Customer deliverables

  • Lead internal Monthly Business performance and assessments, including meetings and presentations

  • Manage shipment of samples, new products, and other items to the Customer and other business partners

  • Handle confidential and non-routine information with extreme confidentiality and sensitivity

  • Understand and fully support the needs of the Customer & team to proactively provide insights to support the continued development of the business

Your qualifications
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Knowledge of either IRI and/or Nielsen data and SAP beneficial

  • Energetic, proactive, and action oriented individual  

  • Customer focused mindset

  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity; experience working with Global/International business preferred

  • Project Management experience required

  • Consumer/business curiosity

  • Excellent problem solving ability with demonstrated experience managing situations through facts and data in order to recommend and/or make business decisions

  • Education and Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree required. 2+ years of related experience within consumer packaged goods, marketing research, and/or corporate retail preferred.

Travel: Approximately 5% which includes international travel.
