The Category Business and Insights leader and team represents the support team that drives insights and category leadership to support Sales and Marketing plans for the company, national accounts, and regional customers across the Storck portfolio of brands. The team will provide our customers with actionable data and insights, as well as, personalized solutions to drive incremental growth for our retail partners and Storck.
This role will manage the Storck portfolio team supporting all of the sales managers. The primary objectives of this role are to drive accelerated growth and elevate customer partnership through the development of actionable insights and analysis.
This position is responsible for the management of the US Category Business and Insights functions and team supporting Storck USA. Management of talent could include Analyst, Senior Analyst, Associate Manager, and/or Manager-level positions. Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, and directing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; yearly appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Senior Manager, Category Business
Initiate, perform, and lead the team in providing business analyses, identify issues and opportunities, and make recommendations to the VP of Sales, Directors of Sales, Sales Managers, and the Sales Finance team with respect to:
- Product Distribution & Pricing
- Customer and Class-of-Trade Performance
- Promotion Analysis
- Competitive/Category Analysis
- Forecasting Accuracy & Analysis
- Merchandising Effectiveness & Shelf Placement
- Define key strategies and opportunities and the execution of those priorities
Lead the team to partner and support Sales Managers to effectively serve trade customers by:
- Mining consumer and category insights to identify customer opportunities
- Developing and presenting category research findings/implications to internal cross functional leaders along with our trade customers and make recommendations based on sales/research analysis
- In conjunction with assigned Sales leadership and team members, develop annual volume and promotional plans and key monthly forecasting perspective
- Represent Sales’ monthly forecast in Pre-Consensus/production meetings
- Engaging with our trade partners to build knowledge of how information we provide can be consistently useful and impactful to sales
- Providing field support during key calls
Lead the development of insights initiatives for the Storck portfolio of brands. Partner with cross-functional colleagues in Brand Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Consumer Insights, and eCom.
Partner with sales managers in the development of annual plan and key monthly initiatives for major customers
Collaborate with cross functional team: Sales, Marketing, Project Management, Supply Chain, and Finance
Develop innovating, fact based selling stories leveraging syndicated data and marketing national plans to position our Sales team successfully during routine and ad-hoc customer meetings
Build and maintain relationships with assigned customers, sales managers, brokers, and key internal partners

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of either IRI, or Nielsen data and software
Highly Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and other presentation mediums
Ability to summarize data and develop concise reports that support storytelling and translate to sales results
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business curriculum, MBA preferred.
7-10 years of category management, customer/shopper marketing experience required, preferably with a CPG/FMCG company.
Prior people leadership experience, including multiple direct reports, required.
Travel: 10-15%, Including Domestic, and potentially International Travel
Must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccination by the date of hire to be considered. Proof of vaccination required. Company Vaccination Policy available for review upon request during interview.
Future Hybrid Work Model, including Monday and Friday Work from Home, and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in normal working conditions for an office environment downtown Chicago, IL.
